Fashion & Textiles
This was influenced by native american indian head dresses. I wanted to experiment with struture and the challenge of making the top pieces of the head dress.
My final piece changed a little from my original design but not drastically. I created the long pieces of the head dress by cutting cardboard and wrapping in news paper. The length of the pieces made it difficult for them to stand straight up. This actually ended being a bit of a accidental success though as it gave the final piece more movement and personality. Creating an almost vail like style. I made the crown section of the head dress more intricate by adding cardboard and paper roses that i rolled and stuck into place. I wanted the flowers to add a feminine touch and to give the over all piece a stronger look.

This is really fun! It looks quite eccentric, I particularly like the design on the headband part of it, I agree that the flowers make it more feminine I think it works well
ReplyDeleteI love this! Your structure is very simple and yet still invokes a very creative and fun outcome. It reminds me of a rendered version of children party hats; introducing an element of play into the picture. The circular shapes at the front really do help to add a girl touch so I think this was incredibly successful!
