Lens Based Media
With the storyboards we had to draw within our subgroups we had to decide on one of the stories and essentially recreate the story board with photographs. We had to work independently from our groups and had to manually design and build the sets and characters.
I wanted to create characters that had simple structure and form. The dog was square and the spider round, this not only worked well with the drawings for each character but emphasized the difference between the only two characters of the story. The story reads that the dog is trapped inside a smelly shoe. I didn't have the resources to actually create a shoe so I used a black box cast against a white exterior. This again showed the extreme difference between the outside world and the bleak inside world in which the dog is trapped. I wanted a simple design with black and white the sole colour combinations. This helped to differentiate between the presumably good and bad that is implied throughout the narrative.
